Baumschlager Eberle Architekten take one of two first prizes

Together with partner firm Christian Bauer & Associés, Baumschlager Eberle Architects have taken one of two first prizes awarded in the project competition for the extension of Kirchberg Hospital in Luxembourg. The competition drew entries from six teams in total.

With this new extension, the Robert Schumann Hospitals Foundation is readying both its premises and its service provision for the future on the existing site. Its commitment to the location is shown in a distinctive, iconic building featuring high-rise elements and a public ground-floor development designed on a human scale, both of which fit perfectly into the local neighbourhood.

The complex comprises various day units, a small operating theatre and elderly care and geriatric wards (22,900 m²) alongside a business hotel with spa (10,400 m²) which provides flexibility and space for the hospital’s future development.

An exhibition showcasing the projects opens on 18 July 2018 at Paul Wurth S.A., rue Alsace 32, Luxembourg City and is open for visits by appointment.
